What is the winner of the game business?
For years I thought that success means the performance in business make big money and gain prestige and status. And if I do all these things, I'd be rewarded with great feeling. I had a beautiful wife, two healthy children and wonderful. We even got the dog and the white picket fence. All my life I had been taught that goals such as these, once completed, the guarantee of good feelings. So, I think, worked very hard, and here's what I did:
• A company of 5 million dollars with 50 employees,
• built my dream house
• Lots of money,
• New Cars in the driveway,
• elected municipal official,
• thriving retail business in my hometown
• Award for Public Service
• Trophies for sports … and more!
It is a goal not on this list:
• Happiness
Have all these accomplishments supply me with happiness and contentment? Many thought they would. I did, but I was wrong!
For two decades, busy, I pursued the objectives above. I was just about level. I do anything if I thought it would help me achieve and, therefore, feel good.
Remember, I had no idea – I was all about achievement – while I worked so hard to achieve.
I was completely missing the real point. I painted the car and do not check the engine. Exterior the car, my life was wonderful: Shiny, clean, impressive in the world. I thought that this was the goal keeping accurate and appropriate. I did not for the vehicle to function properly, there were complex workings of being watched, heard, and worked on. I did not lift mine hood and looked inside at the engine in me.
I was not happy.
After each step was adopted, and after the first flush of success faded, I noticed he was replaced by an inexplicable feeling of emptiness. I do not understand why I was not happy. I do not know what was missing.
Be Achiever, I started to address this situation. He rose on me that maybe I needed to lift the hood. So I read all the books and personal development links and / or each program, seminar and workshop I could find. However, the reason for my lack of happiness is not clear. A feeling of guilt or me haunted and hunted me for being ungrateful. I said: Look what you have! You should feel happy? You ingrate!
This thinking, this self-punishment only added to my sadness.
I spent the next five years working on what was happening inside my engine. It is complex: the inner self. I checked the old wiring, and I discovered that I was not "wired" certain behaviors, after all. I looked "parts'-old beliefs, old ideas, and I saw that they needed work or a replacement. As I moved further into the intricate workings of this engine, my car, I began to see I started my life from the false premise. When the gun was fired and the man in the game of life shouted: "Go!" I started to run, like most people, seeing each goal as an obstacle to overcome. I also wanted to be ahead of the pack and I often found myself. I did not see there was a totally different race running, farther, not obvious and with some benchmarks. Decades back, I did not understand what my goal should have been. I do not know what I wanted. I just started running. Little or no questions asked.
The premise I was not aware of what I was thinking that I want. It has not been more achievements for me more recognition. It was not that we will generate the most money … rather, it was:
What go happy?
I never even thought of that! I had never known such an idea could even be a goal.
I forgot or never knew I had certain values that were unique to me. When I was not honoring these values I disagreed with what's really important for me, I lived in conflict all the time. Inside I was torn! Now I suddenly saw the engine under the hood: my first breakthrough! This led me to discover what was missing in my life.
It was: I had lost touch with who I really was. I discovered that I had a soul and he cried: What am I here for, what I really want?
I discovered that I was a human being, not a man make.
How do I want to be and feeling? I had no idea!
This was the beginning for me. I saw that I needed to be in a very different race really win in the game of life. I also saw I need help in creating this new way of living life.
I discovered about life coaching. I started working with a coach and for the past 4 years I have had incredible results. I able to identify my core values, I was able to look at the picture of myself not only the one-dimensional character that I product, which had blindly run this other race. I saw many of my core beliefs were based on old assumptions that I had never tested for truth.
It helped me identify what matters most to me really. I learned that I'm not ready to live out the integrity of these core values. I had to learn to use my own internal guidance system.
I learned:
What feels good is in alignment with my core values, and what does not.
Sounds simple! Simple yes but not necessarily easy.
I had a power struggle to learn to replace the beliefs that have blocked so I kept my satisfaction real. I also struggled to believe that what I wanted and desired, was possible.
I do the hard work.
Today my life is filled with such joy, respect, freedom, balance, calm and under.
I'm happy.
Five years if I was asked: "What is missing in your life?" I had never even guessed that joy, respect, freedom, balance, calmness and framework are the things that I missed. Whether it is what mattered most to me.
Now when I go from front to a business or personal goal, I clarity behind my actions. I understand my real purpose in taking these actions. I am in harmony with what matters more for me. The difference was monumental.
It's really win the game: when you learn what matters most to you.
