read in 70’s, kid goes in an old house, feather falls out of a painting, he picks it up and goes back in time

I read this book when I was in the 4th grade in the 70’s. It was paperback and I think it had a pink cover. A kid goes into an old run-down house on a dare. It’s sort of the haunted house of his neighborhood. He goes up to the second floor of the house where there are several paintings of beautiful women. The last painting is of an odd looking woman and she is either holding a feather or wearing a feather. The feather falls out of the painting and the kid picks it up. I think at that point he’s transported back in time to when the house was new. He comes to find out that the paintings are of sisters that used to live in the house. It seems like the word sisters may be in the title but I can’t remember for sure.
