why are some Americans so clueless and stereotypical?
I’m from India and I’ve been asked, by americans, “Is their electicity in India”, “do you ride camels?”, “Why do you guys JUST eat curry?”, and “why is their so much poverty?”…Why so much negativity yet no question related to the modern culture/society or tradition? India is 1000 years old with many cultures/traditions…21 languages, many arts such as dancing,paintings, architecture, etc…Can’t some of them come up with better questions to ask? Also, I am not stereotypical Americans because I said some and I know a few do know about India, but it seems like the majority is quite clueless about India specifically because I’m not the only Indian who has been asked these questions or other dumb questions, their are many…Also, what the hell is a slurpy because someone asked me if I could make them one…I was confused…India is the second fastest growing economy right now so I would think people wouldn’t ask me these questions…
Well, I’m an American and India is one of the most beautiful countries, I think. I love other countries and cultures which could be why I know India isn’t all poor and mediocre.
I feel like some Americans think that way because it’s what we see all the time in movies and on tv. We never see the good, beautiful and thriving parts of India. =(
Also, it could be just the location of the u.s. that you’re in.
Or Finally, it could just be that Americans are oblivious to the world around them and only care about themselves..why that is? Who knows..Its just they way they’re raised I guess.. Thinking that America is the place to be. =/ I wish it weren’t that way.
